The Premier League match played between QPR and Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Saturday has ended in a draw. Both the teams scored two goals each and they had to share the points. This was the seventh draw for QPR in the ongoing League. Harry Redknapp’s team is still looking for its first victory in the tournament. They have lost 9 out of the 16 matches that they have played in the League so far. QPR is currently at the bottom of the Premier League points table.
On the other hand, this was the third draw for Wigan in the League. But, in spite of bagging one point from this match, Wigan has moved down in the points table. Now, Wigan is at no. 18 in the points table. They have won 4 out of the 16 matches that they have played in the competition so far. They have lost 9 matches and the remaining three matches have finished in the form of draws.
There was one change in the starting XI of QPR. Esteban Granero didn’t start the match and on his place, Sean Derry was given the starting opportunity.
Wigan Athletic took the lead in the 19th minute of the match. It was James McCarthy who scored the opening goal for Wigan. The Scottish midfielder beat the QPR goalkeeper with a great volley. But, seven minutes later, the scores were equalized when Ryan Nelsen found the net with a header. There were no more goals scored in the first half.
QPR got ahead by 2-1 in the 72nd minute of the match with the goal Djibril Cisse. But, their lead didn’t last long. Just a couple of minutes later, James McCarthy scored his second goal in the match and the scores got equalized again.
Both the teams failed in scoring any more goals in the remaining time and the match got finished without any result.
QPR will play its next match against Fulham at the Loftus Road Stadium on Saturday.
